Northern Cape Project (Phase 3 | ZFM): School Support Visits (March-Aug 2023)

Summary of main outcomes of the support visits:

There have been 45 visits to 18 project schools since the start of the year.

The support visits to the teachers are crucial for providing classroom mentoring and assistance in the implementation of the BCP.

Departmental officials & volunteers have been trained to guide and coach teachers in the implementation of the program.

The majority (60%) of the visits per teacher/school have on average been 40 minutes in duration, while 27% of the visits have been between 50-60 minutes.

The number of teachers present at each school visit varies between 1 to 5 teachers, depending on the number of project teachers at the school.

The majority (73%) of support visits to the project schools involve a demonstration lesson. This indicates that the majority of teachers are trying to implement the programme.

The classrooms have started to reflect the basic concepts and teachers have been careful in looking after their materials.

71% of the teachers were rated as either adequate or excellent during these class visits.

 Ratings: 1 = very poor | 3 = average  | 5 = excellent

Conclusion:- Drawing from the comprehensive reports we receive following these visits, it can be affirmed that the BCP is truly gaining a foothold in the district.
