They really enjoyed the Basic Concepts box — they call it our mind booster!

Basic Concepts helps me with an in-depth lesson plan and how to teach concepts to learners by breaking it up to get to the fine details. Everyone is eager to speak in the classroom now.

The learners benefited from the programme. It increased their vocabulary, cognitive development, and their ability to think, reason and understand the world around them.

Description

The Durbanville Schools Foundation (DSF), in collaboration with the Metro North Education District, has launched a project to enhance the school readiness and academic performance of learners in the Foundation Phase.

The project covers multiple grades, starting from Grade R and progressing systematically up to Grade 3. It will be implemented in nine schools under the DSF.

This project is a pilot initiative of the Metro North Education District and has received support from the Western Cape Department of Education. The ultimate goal is to extend the project to all districts within the Metro and beyond, throughout the Western Cape.

Evaluation

Learners' preparedness for school learning and scholastic performance will be measured and tracked and compared to baseline measures.
