Target Group
Who is the programme for?
- Pre-school children (3-6 year olds): The BCP is used as part of the curriculum and integrated into the daily activities of the classroom.
- Primary school children (7-9 year olds/up to Grade 3): The BCP is used as an intervention programme either within the classroom or in a pullout format 2-3 times a week.
- School children with special education needs: The BCP is used as an intensive intervention programme and forms part of the learner’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) on a daily basis.
The programme has been found to be particularly effective for learners who have:
- gaps in their knowledge of basic concepts and poor vocabulary development
- receptive and expressive language difficulties
- information processing difficulties
- working memory difficulties
- attention and concentration difficulties
- motor planning difficulties
- low levels of intrinsic motivation
- self-regulation difficulties
- low self-confidence
- school learning difficulties (eg: reading, writing, mathematics)
