Hantam Community Education Trust: Learners' Writing Has Improved
Part of the Project
The following are some examples of learner writing gathered during the project. Learners were instructed to write about a topic within the theme and vocabulary area that they had been learning about.
Grade 2 (2005)
At night I wash and, eat and, watch TV and, go to bed. In the morning it is light. I wear my school uniform and go to school. At night I can see the stars and moon. During the day I play with my dog. Yearstiday it did rain.
Grade 2 (2006)
The elephant has big tusks.
The monkey likes to eat apples.
The budgie likes to fly.
The sheep has big wool.
The elephant waks slow.
The lion likes to roa.
The lion is a carnivore.
Grade 3 (2005)
During the day I play with my friends. During the day it is light. At night I go to bed. At night my brother snores. At night I dream. During the day I play with my friends cricket. During the day I play ball. At night the stars twinkle. At night the moon shines.
Grade 3 (2006)
The lion can kill tiger. The lioness can kill tigress. The lion name is Tom. The lioness name is Paulin. The lion and lioness and the cubs eater zebras and bucks. The lion, lioness and cub live in South Africa. When the zebra sees the lion … run away.
