Northern Cape Project: Master Trainers- Part 2 (2023)

Monday, October 23, 2023 - 08:30 to Friday, October 27, 2023 - 12:30

Master Trainers: Final Training Week

The focus of this week's training will be on the final conceptual domains that were not covered earlier in the year.

In addition, the week will give us the opportunity for the Northern Cape Officials to support and mentor educators in the last two domains of the programme.

The prospective trainers would thus have had the opportunity to see the entire process, from the training of the teachers and reflection on the process to the follow-through inside the classroom.

This makes for a fully immersive experience for the new trainers.

Teachers use questions that evoke thinking and inquiry, so that the learners are able to discover and experience for themselves.

Metro South Training, Western Cape Education Department, 2015

The sessions were clear, informative, exciting, well presented, practical, logical and relevant to the context of teaching young learners.

Metro Central, October 2013

Before the course, I never focused on the main concepts as I never really thought them essential to "real life" as a speech-language pathologist. I now have a very different perspective on why these aspects are important and how they move cognition forward.

ZOOM TRAINING 2 FEEDBACK

The course was clear, open and easy to understand basic concepts. What I liked most was that it links with the curriculum and it really works. It needs to be implemented at my centre.

Open Public Training, Cape Town (June 2013)
BCP Short Course, UCT (June 2013)

We were taught the theory as well as the practice.  I now feel confident to start to implement the programme with my class and even with my nieces and nephews.

Mitchell's Plain Primary School, November 2015

I feel very strongly that Basic Concepts should be introduced to all learners- this will give me the time to develop their conceptual language and increase their vocabulary and verbal fluency.
