Teacher training over the years (2010-2012) has been hands-on and engaging. Teachers have become familiar with the BCP training motto: "Show one, do one!"

 Some comments from teachers after completing training in 2010:-

'We need to give them (the learners) an opportunity to teach us e.g. ask questions in order for you to know how much the kids know. By doing that you are engaging them (the learners)… you are giving them an opportunity to speak.'

'The Basic Concepts is a way to … help children and not teach them … so that they can think and know the meaning.'

I understand now that teaching is not just standing in front of the class, but a discussion/ dialogue with your children.

I was very happy about my development on this course… often as teachers we do not pay attention to detail, but because of Basic Concepts I was aware of the lack of language use in my class. Die Basiese Konsepte Program het my self vertroue weer op gebou. My taal gebruik en my manier van dinge doen het ook verander. Ek is baie bly en gelukking om deel uit te maak van die Basiese Konsepte Program.
