Part of the Project

Teacher training over the years (2010-2012) has been hands-on and engaging. Teachers have become familiar with the BCP training motto: "Show one, do one!"

Some comments from teachers after completing training in 2010:-

'We need to give them (the learners) an opportunity to teach us e.g. ask questions in order for you to know how much the kids know. By doing that you are engaging them (the learners)… you are giving them an opportunity to speak.'

'The Basic Concepts is a way to … help children and not teach them … so that they can think and know the meaning.'

‘Although I have been teaching Grade R for 23 years... I have learnt so much over the past 2 weeks and have already seen a change in most of my learners.’ (Metro Central, 2012)

Practical demonstration of mediation. Louis is an excellent mediator and it really helped to see it demonstrated. Loved the dedication, enthusiasm and firm belief in worth of BC approach to learning. I am extremely grateful for being exposed to this programme … I'm always worried about those learners who are not progressing. The programme can support these learners in order to lay the foundation for academic progress. Practically my whole class needs this Foundation!!! How can I start with formal teaching if they do not know their Basics.
