Durbanville Schools Foundation: Implementation Phase - 2025

Planning for Implementation in Four Project Schools

Next year, the Basic Concepts Programme (BCP) will be introduced to small groups of learners in Foundation Phase and Learning Support classes.

At the start of the year, teachers will select learners for intervention, primarily focusing on:

  • Learners with general learning barriers (17 teachers)

  • Learners who are not school-ready (11 teachers)

  • Learners with language barriers (10 teachers)

Approximately 350 learners are expected to benefit from the BCP. While most teachers (13) will work with one group of learners, nine teachers plan to work with two to four groups.

The BCF team will also assist teachers in selecting learners as needed.

Teachers will receive quarterly support and mentoring visits from the BCF team, along with online review sessions before each new domain.

Those who implement the programme under supervision will be certified as BCP mediators at the end of the year.
