Social Media Post #144: Putting 'Brain Power' At The Centre in SA

South Africa’s National Strategy to Accelerate Action for Children sets an important and ambitious vision for developing the cognitive potential of every child.

The real challenge, however, lies in implementation.

How does “brain power” move from policy into classroom practice? Because it doesn’t happen automatically.

It is built — through interaction, language, and intentional teaching.

This is where the work becomes real: In the moment-to-moment exchanges that shape how learners think, engage, and understand.

At Basic Concepts Foundation, this is the focus of our work —  supporting teachers to develop the thinking, language, and cognitive tools that make learning possible.

Bridging the gap between policy and practice is not theoretical.

It is practical, deliberate, and essential.
