Metro East Focus Schools Project - Support Visit 2 (Shape), March 2026

Turning Practice into Impact: Classroom Support in Action

Our recent classroom support visits across the MEED project offered an encouraging window into how the Basic Concepts Programme is taking root in everyday teaching practice. Working alongside teachers on the Shape domain, the focus was on strengthening implementation through guided, in-the-moment support.

Across many classrooms, teachers demonstrated strong commitment and enthusiasm. Learners were actively engaged—handling shapes, describing their features, and beginning to represent them through drawing, painting, and play-based activities. In several cases, teachers showed a clear understanding of the teaching process, using small groups effectively and creating meaningful, interactive learning experiences.

A key highlight of these visits was the impact of live coaching and modelling. Where teachers were supported directly in the moment, there was an immediate shift in both teaching approach and learner response. Learners became more confident and expressive, while teachers gained practical strategies to deepen their practice. Encouragingly, many teachers reflected on these sessions and began sharing insights with their colleagues, strengthening a culture of collaborative learning within schools.

While implementation is still developing, these visits reaffirm the value of sustained, classroom-based support. They provide a critical bridge between training and practice, ensuring that the programme translates into meaningful learning experiences for children.

With continued partnership and engagement, we are confident that this growing momentum will lead to deeper, more consistent impact across all participating classrooms.
