Ikwezi Support Forum Feedback
Main focus of meetings: -
Meeting 1 (25 May): General refresher
Meeting 2 (22 June): Steps of the teaching model and continuation of refresher
Meeting 3 (27 July): Teacher applications of the basic concepts inside the classroom
Meeting 4 (31 August): Conceptual domain of number
Meeting 5 (30 September): Conceptual domain of letter and closure
Attendance and participants: -
Most of the teachers were Grade R teachers, and the number in attendance ranged from 6 to 13. The same teachers attended most of the meetings and the attendance saw a steady increase per meeting.
General outcomes: -
- Teachers responded very positively to the sessions
- Active participation and feedback from teachers in sessions
- A renewed interest in the Basic Concepts Programme
- Teachers were enthusiastic to apply what they had learnt after each session
- Teachers understood the essence of the programme and applied aspects of it in their classes - One of the teachers created her own concept rich teaching environment
