A Meta-Cognitive Programme
The programme was developed by Chrissie Ferreira de Carvalho as a part of her doctoral studies at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil. It is a curricular programme designed to promote executive functions in children.
Several authors have identified the need for the development of a systematic and explicit teaching approach to promote the development of executive functions and self-regulation in primary school aged children. Executive functions have been linked to improved academic performance (Diamond et al, 2007;. Dias, 2013; Meltzer, 2010; Rosario et al, 2010).
