Klipspruit Combined School, Mpumalanga: End of year report 2023

Klipspruit Combined School: Grade RR - Grade 12

The KCS is about 30km from Lydenberg in the rural hinterland, drawing its almost 900 learners from the farms and informal settlements in the surrounding area.

While the BCP is implemented in all Foundation Phase classes at this school, it was mainly implemented in Grade R this year.

This class has 48 Grade R learners and another 28 Grade RR learners inside this small classroom. There are a total of 76 learners in this class!

The teacher (Ria) has struggled this year to work with so many learners but still continues to try to run the BCP as regularly as she can. Nevertheless, Ria says that she has been able to mediate all six of the conceptual domains

Ria, the teacher says that her learners have responded very well and most of them try to answer in full sentences this year.

Ria says that next year: 'I plan to run the basic Concepts Programme daily by grouping my learners and it is my wish to mediate learners all concepts.'
