Interesting Teacher Comments: From BC Trainings, 2014

Interesting and inspiring feedback from trainings: May to August 2014

I understand now that teaching is not just standing in front of the class, but a discussion/dialogue with your children. Instructions have to be clear and detailed.

The BCP will be very helpful especially for slow learners, but also for the fast learners who will develop more language by writing and answering in full sentences.

It made me rethink how I teach and how I can change the language I use.

‘BCP is foundational to a child's learning. It is the building blocks on which all other concepts are built. A concept needs to be fully understood by a child before a new concept can be taught. We were taught the theory as well as the practice.  I now feel confident to start to implement the programme with my class and even with my nieces and nephews.

The emphasis on language throughout the programme helps to develop learners' understanding of concepts and expand their vocabulary. The BCP stops learners from guessing, it gives them more structure and develops their cognitive functioning.

What I understand about the Basic Concepts Programme is that it is very useful in all subjects. I must implement it in every lesson. I must also try to be as accurate and precise as possible when teaching.
