Smiles abound during support visit to Naluxolo Primary

Diane (Basic Concepts Unlimited) and Fiella (Dept of Education) visited 3 teachers at Nuluxula Primary in Samora Machel on 8 April.

The two Grade 1 teachers and the Grade R teacher that we observed and mentored are enthusiastic and doing well and have come up with some lovely ways to enhance their teaching using Basic Concept ideas. We suggested that they meet regularly to share these ideas and the advice that they were given on our visit.

One of the aims of the BC approach is to encourage the learners to communicate using the newly learnt concepts and vocabulary as much as possible. One way to do this is to ask open-ended questions and ask the learners to repeat any one word answers in full sentences. e.g. The colour of the shirt is blue.
