Metro Central: Visits to newly trained teachers (November 2012)

Follow up visit to teachers in Circuit 1

- Rosemead Primary (5 Basic Concepts teachers)
- Portia Primary (7 Basic Concepts teachers)
- Kenwyn Primary (2 Basic Concepts teachers)
Michele Lothian (Project co-ordinator, Metro Central, Department of Education) and Louis Benjamin visited teachers who were recently trained in the BCP as well as teachers/learning support teachers who have been trained previously.
The enthusiasm and interest of the teachers were inspiring. Many of the newly trained teachers have started to implement the programme in their classes. A number of teachers spoke about the difference the programme is already making for them and their learners.
It was evident that Basic Concepts has taken root in the Foundation Phase at these schools.
