Hantam Community Education Trust: Project Context

The project was run at Umthombo Wolwazi School, a farm school in a remote region of the Northern Cape accessible only on a gravel road. The school was established and funded by the Hantam Community Education Trust (HCET). The HCET was established in 1989 to respond to the needs of farm communities in the Hantam district of Colesberg. The HCET supports 22 farms in a radius of 50km and provides a range of services to these farms, including education (pre-Grade R to Grade 9), skills training, bursaries and health care (pharmacy and primary health clinic).
