7.8% (18) of the learners (232) in the Foundation Phase from the four project schools could be considered to be functioning at the level of a learner in Grade 1 at the start of the year.

99% of the learners (n=98) were functioning on a pre-Grade 1 level

Grade 2

92% of the learners (n=70) were functioning on a pre-Grade 1 level

Grade 3

82% of the learners (n=64) were functioning on a pre-Grade 1 level
