”The International Conference On Thinking is the premier ‘go-to’ event for leaders in education, business, healthcare, civic society and sport. Experts and practitioners in learning, neuroscience, and cognitive development will share their latest research and make practical suggestions for multi-disciplinary application. The intent of this conference is to make the world a more thoughtful place.” Arthur L. Costa, Professor Emeritus, California State University, Sacramento

We would like to welcome you to the International Conference on Thinking 2020 to be held in Johannesburg from 15 – 19 June, 2020. ICOT 2020 is for practitioners, researchers, academics and theorists to provoke, challenge, reflect, learn and discuss development around the topic of thinking and its application to solving global problems to create a better world. As one member of the Standing Committee put it:

”ICOTs are not just conferences about problems very worth thinking through; ICOTs are conferences about thinking – how it works generally, how it works in different fields and contexts, how it can be improved, how it weaves into so much that we do politically, economically, educationally, industrially, etc.”

ICOT 2020 will follow a transdisciplinary approach with a core focus on education. The other strands are business (entrepreneurship), environment, health, sport and society. The theme of this conference is ‘Thinking to transform society’ with the following sub-themes:

  • Teaching for better thinking: engagement, impact and innovation
  • Fostering an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Breaking from poverty: creating, imagining, innovating
  • Promoting an ethic of care towards a sustainable future
  • Exploring African ways of thinking.
